Ever met anyone who didn’t like a smoothie? We haven’t either!
And nothing brings greater satisfaction than making a “smoothie”
yourself.
So, before we give you some quick and easy recipes let’s talk
about the “art of blending”. Blending is all about managing
temperatures. Proper portions of cold (ice and Frozen
ingredients) and liquid (water, milk, juice etc) are the key.
If you have too much “cold” the ingredients freeze up inside the
blending jar – forming an air pocket and not mixing properly.
When this happens take out 2 ounces (by volume) of ice and add 1
ounce of liquid. (you don’t have to be exact – experience is the
best teacher).
If you have too much liquid and not enough cold you’ll get a
thin, runny product. Adjust the relationship of liquid and cold
by decreasing 1 ounce of liquid and adding 2 ounces (by volume)
of ice.
Proper adjusting of cold and liquid should not affect the taste.
